Skype PBX. The stuff I find on Skype Gateways.
After having completed my little exercise
with linking a simple Skype-USB-gateway to a
PBX, I continue my quest searching for
better solutions. Here is what I found on
google while searching for
Skype PBX. Try also searching for
skype pbx gateway or
skype gateway or
skype sip gateway.
Let’s have a look at Suncomm showing off VoIP, WiFi and Skype-enabled products at Computex. 4 interesting things here :
- GSM-based VoIP gateway, model
SC-375. The unit, located either at the
ISP or telco, enables calls from a GSM
mobile handset to be routed over IP.
Model SC-375C enables calls from a CDMA
handset to be routed over IP. The units
use the standard SIP protocol (RFC 2543,
RFC3261), and the G.711, G.723 or G.729
codecs. Joan Wang, manager of VoIP sales
at SunComm, indicated that G.711 is
bandwidth heavy, at 64Kbps, and use of
G.723 or G.729, or the more recent G.726
codec, would be preferable. The SC-375
gateway is already shipping to the US,
Australia and Europe, priced at US$170,
in volumes of 140.
- WIFI PHONE
Model SC-8800, which complies with the
802.11g standard for wireless LAN, runs
on the Windows CE OS and is suitable for
outdoor use. The company’s older WiFi
phones, such as the SC-6600, which have
been in the market for one year, are
more suitable for indoor use. These
older models conform to 802.11b wireless
LAN.
- SkyTrunk analog
phone adapter, model ST-1001. The device
enables the user to make Skype calls
using a standard PSTN or DECT phone,
rather than a headset and microphone
while seated at a PC. A telephone is
connected to the adapter, while the
adapter itself connects to a PC by means
of USB. The adapter supports both Skype
Speed Dial and SkypeOut, direct dialed
from the phone keypad. SkyTrunk adapter
ST-1001 is available now at a sample
price of US$30. |
- Suncomm has also developed a Skype PBX, the SkyPBX-4GV, which allows integration of conventional PSTN phones, in an office setting, say, with Skype functionality. This would allow office staff all the convenience and cost savings available through Skype, without compromising security. This PBX unit is available now at a sample price of US$2500
Actually see a huge amount of VoIP
Gateways here. I guess I just
found a huge overview at Alibaba with
some images of the different solutions. I’d
love to test all of them or see some
test-reports. Better be
careful what you buy and get some advice.
